Sussex Co. Sheriff - designed 1986 - new condition - The patch was designed by Sheriff Robert E. Untig in 1986 while he as a sergeant with the sheriff's office. A traditional gold 5-point star signifying the Office of Sheriff rests upon a field of dark LE blue. Upon the star rests a ring of red and blue equally which signifies equality. The top half of the ring is blue with 13 white stars signifying Sussex County being established as the 13th County of New Jersey. The bottom half of the ring is red and displays two white stars which denote the two bureau's within the sheriff's office, that being LE and Corrections. On each side of these stars are displayed the words Justice - Integrity - Service, the three outstanding characteristics which best describes what the office represents. Within the ring, the Seal of New Jersey is displayed. The patch is worn on the left shoulder of the uniform. |
