Wood Co. Sheriff Dept. - new condition - The Wood County Sheriff’s Office was formed in 1799, Deputies respond to a variety of calls, including traffic accidents, residential and commercial alarms, and domestic disputes. In addition to handling calls, warrants and court orders are enforced, and officers are constantly on the lookout for impaired drivers, suspicious persons or criminal activity of any kind. Wood Co. This operation began in the late 1980's, Steven George (adult probation) and Arthur Gustke (circuit judge) at the time, were instrumental in starting the home confinement program. Inmates that qualified were placed on home confinement monitoring in lieu of serving time in the regional jail, reducing the cost of inmate maintainance for the county.
