Buffalo Co. Sheriffs Dept. - worn during the 1990s -? - new condition - the county is named after the Buffalo River, which flows from Strum to Alma and joins the Mississippi River. The river was named by French explorer Father Louis Hennepin in 1680 as "Riviere des Boeufs," meaning "River of Buffaloes"
