Ramsey Co. Sheriff - S.T.O.P. East Metro Gang Task Force - new condition - This Task Force was established in the mid-2000s by the Minnesota DPS to combat gang activity across the Twin Cities metro area. It included personnel from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Minneapolis and St. Paul Police Departments, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and several federal agencies. The unit was disbanded in 2009 after serious misconduct came to light, including missing evidence and the misuse of seized property such as cash and vehicles. Following internal investigations, the task force paid out a $3 million civil settlement. Two Ramsey County deputies were suspended for mishandling evidence, and an administrative assistant was fired for violations related to property and financial management. |
